PNVSCA's Search for Outstanding Volunteers

Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency once again launches the Search for Outstanding Volunteers (SOV) 2018. This is to continually recognize the services and contributions of individuals or groups and organizations to the local and national development.

2018 Training Awards in the Health Research for Region VI

The Western Visayas Health Research and Development Consortium (WVHRDC) invites submission to the 2018 Training Awards in Health Research for Region VI. This is a two-phase training intended for new researchers who are interested in carrying out health researches in the region.

The deadline set by WVHRDC-DOST for submission of applications is by 5:00 PM on May 18, 2018. The chosen topic of the applicant must be in line with the 2017-2022 Regional Unified Health Research Agenda (RUHRA). 

To interested UPV researchers, kindly submit your application to the OVCRE on May 14, 2018. The office will make the necessary endorsement to the WVHRDC.

DOST: Call for Program/ Project Proposal for CY 2019

The Department of Science and Technology is inviting all researchers to submit their research project proposals in S&T. This is the desire of the department to promote further development of local and appropriate technologies, which will benefit the people.

The R&D proposals should be aligned with the priority areas of the Harmonized National Research and Development Agenda (HNRDA) for CY 2019 Funding.

IFPDS-CFOS Conducted a Training-Workshop on Fish Catch Monitoring

Twenty-seven fisherfolk of Brgy. Nasidman, Ajuy, Iloilo participated in a Training-Workshop on Fish Catch Monitoring conducted by the Institute of Fisheries Policy & Development Studies, College of Fisheries & Ocean Sciences on June 28, 2016 at Brgy. Nasidman, Ajuy. This public service activity is in response to the request of the local government unit of the Municipality of Ajuy in order to capacitate the fisherfolk of the said barangay in a community-based fish catch monitoring system and record keeping as well as to increase their level of awareness on the importance of community-based fisheries management.

Mahaplag, Leyte—The Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (DNSM) of UPV Tacloban College in cooperation with the Department of Education- Division of Leyte and the local government of Mahaplag conducted a three-day teaching enhancement program for the junior and senior high school teachers in the Area Five of DepEd—Division of Leyte on June 17-19, 2016. 

UPVTC conducted another Research Proposal Writing Boot Camp at San Andres, Catanduanes

After a successful  writing bootcamp in Camarines Sur last February, UPV Tacloban Office of the Continuing Education and Pahinungod together with Visayas State University conducted another Research Proposal Writing Bootcamp at Amenia Beach Resort, Palawig, San Andres, Catanduanes State University on April 28-30, 2016. 

Faculty members of Catanduanes State University were the recipients of the program. They were assisted in developing and enhancing their research capabilities and in writing research proposals for submission to funding agencies like DOST and BFAR.    

UPVTC Holds Research Proposal Writing Boot Camp at Goa, Camarines Sur

Last February 25-27, 2016, UPV Tacloban College’s Office of the Continuing Education and Pahinungod through the support of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension conducted a three-day research proposal writing boot camp at the CraigVille Resort and Recreation Center, Goa, Camarines Sur. The participants were the faculty members of Partido State University (PSU). Its objectives are to develop and to enhance the research capabilities of the faculty of Partido State University and to assist them in writing proposals for submission to funding agencies such as Department of Science and Technology and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.

Coastal Habitat Baseline Assessment and Monitoring in Concepcion, Iloilo

The OceanBio and MarineBio Laboratories of the College of Arts and Sciences, UP Visayas Miagao assessed and monitored the status of coastal habitats – seagrass beds and coral reefs in Concepcion, Iloilo on January 12 – 15, 2016. This public service activity was spearheaded by Dr. Wilfredo L. Campos, University Professor of UP Visayas in coordination with Ms. Emelinda Abian of the Municipal Agriculture Office, Municipality of Concepcion.  

IFPDS Conducts Workshop on Needs Assessment for Evaluation of MPA

The institute of the Fisheries Policy and Development Studies (IFPDS) of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, UP Visayas conducted a workshop on needs assessment for evaluation of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) on July 29, 2015 at Endielina’s Inland Resort, Estancia, Iloilo. This public service activity was implemented by Ms. Liberty N. Espectato and Ms. Ruby P. Napata, University Research Associates of IFPDS.
