To prepare for the activities this year, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension conducted its strategic planning for the year 2023 last February 9, 2023 at the Conference Room, New Administration Building.

During the morning session, the 5-point agenda of the Chancellor was discussed by VCRE Dr. Harold M. Monteclaro with the representatives coming from the OVCRE’s supervised units. Present during the meeting were Dr. Victor Marco Emmanuel N. Ferriols, Director of RRC and PGC; Dr. Carmelo S. del Castillo, Director of National Institute of Microbiology and Biotechnology (NIMBB); Dr. Reynold D. Tan, Director of Technology Transfer Business Development Office (TTBDO); Prof. Maria Theresa C. Albaña, Director of the Office of the Continuing Education and Pahinungod (OCEP); Ms Meryl Joy Jagonilla, representative of Sentro ng Wikang Filipino; and Dr. Mary Jane Apines-Amar, President of the UPV Research, Extension, and Professional Staff Association (REPSA). 

 The previous year’s agenda and targets were evaluated and the implementation of action plans were reviewed. These were used as a basis to strategize and formulate effective schemes in order to attain specific targets of the office in the coming years. Specifically, these plans were to expand partnerships with research institutions, provide cohesive extension and public service programs as well as strengthen the capacity of our researchers in the university to create impactful and relevant research. Different concerns were raised by the supervised units and courses of action were suggested by the group in order to address specific concerns

In the afternoon, another session was held together with the OVCRE personnel. Dr. Monteclaro discussed the strategic development plan of the university which includes the strategies, respective programs/projects/activities, key performance indicators and annual targets. Action plans were devised to meet the annual targets as well as enhance the provision of services to all the constituents of the office. 

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension aims to have a productive and impactful year this 2023 and in the years ahead.
