The University of the Philippines Visayas welcomed researchers from Kagoshima University, Japan last March 17, 2023. They were Ms. Rico Hachisuka, Dr. Shin Ugawa, Dr. Takashi Torii and Dr. Satoru Nishimura. 

The Japanese visitors were accompanied by Dr. Reynold D. Tan, Associate Professor of the College of Management and Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (TTBDO) Director and Ms. Ruby P. Napata from the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, Institute of Fisheries Policy and Development Studies (CFOS-IFPDS). 

Dr. Harold M. Monteclaro, Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension welcomed them and discussed possible research collaborations and partnerships between UP Visayas and Kagoshima University. 

Moreover, Ms. Rico Hachisuka, also received her Certificate of Completion from the JSPS (Japan Society for Promotion of Science) for completing her field training program in Ambon, Indonesia and here in Iloilo, Philippines. 

The group had a short tour around the UPV Campus and proceeded to Iloilo City and Guimaras Island after. 

This continues the core mission of the university in strengthening international linkages through  research collaborations and public service.
