A three-day training-workshop on eDNA metabarcoding was organized by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension and Philippine Genome Center Visayas in collaboration with Ankara University, Turkey last August 30 to September 1, 2023 at the PGC Visayas Laboratories, UPV Regional Research Center Building, UPV Miagao Campus.

This training-workshop included different lectures and discussions on eDNA metabarcoding, field samplings and hands-on laboratory training including extraction, laboratory techniques, data analysis and bioinformatics.

The invited resource speaker from Ankara University was Dr. Emre Keskin, head of the Evolutionary Genetics Laboratory.

There were twelve participants who availed the said training-workshop; they are university researchers, postgraduate students and researchers from partner universities which includes Capiz State University, Mindanao State University Naawan Campus, Western Philippines University,  Aklan State University and Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology.

Apart from the given lectures, the participants were also expected to formulate research proposals related to eDNA metabarcoding that would involve collaboration of universities in the Philippines and Ankara University.
