SUCs in the region work jointly with UPV for “Operationalization of Regional Research Journal”

Last October 11-13, 2023 three state universities in Negros Island were part of the mentoring workshop under the DOST-funded project, “Operationalization of Regional Research Journal” These SUCs were Carlos P. Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU), Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology (NONESCOST) and Central Philippines State University (CPSU).

This project was hosted by the University of the Philippines Visayas, in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology Region VI with the goal to establish the first-ever regional research journal titled, Visayan Journal of Science, Technology and Innovation (VJSTI).

Dr. Christopher Marlowe A. Caipang, who served as the editor-in-chief of the first volume of the journal, together with Dr. Harold M. Monteclaro, as the project leader, visited various SUCs in the region to introduce the project as well as solicit support and manuscript submissions for publication.

It was noted during their visits that these SUCs requested a mentoring workshop for their respective faculty and researchers to prepare their manuscripts to be submitted to the editorial board for initial review.

Previously, they have also conducted a mentoring session and workshop in Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) last September 27, 2023.

The VJSTI team conducted its first workshop session via Zoom meetings last September 6, 2023 with the same SUCs to provide initial training to interested participants who wanted to publish their research outputs in the journal.

Visayan Journal of Science and Technology and Innovation (VJSTI) is set to launch its maiden issue in December. As of now, it is still accepting manuscripts for review that will be included in the succeeding issues.
