The University of the Philippines Visayas community participated in the international One Billion Rising campaign with the theme, “Rise for Freedom” last February 17, 2025 at the New Administration Building, Miagao, Iloilo. The Gender and Development Program Office and Ugsad Regional Gender Resource Network Western Visayas spearheaded the activity.

One Billion Rising, which commenced last February 14, 2012, is a yearly call to action to end violence against women. This event is part of the international dance-strike to demand an end to the violence and oppression of more than a billion women around the world. This calls for the protection of women, helping them in the process of healing after experiencing abuse and empowering them to rise above the challenges that they have experienced.

Last February 14, 2025, the same activity was held at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand, Muelle Loney Street, City Proper, Iloilo City.
