Two inception meetings to kick-start the implementation of UPV projects were held last April 24, 2024 and April 29, 2024. These research projects were headed by  Prof. Encarnacion Emilia S. Yap and Asst. Prof. Adrienne Marrie S. Bugayong-Janagap, PhD., respectively.

The first inception workshop was facilitated and hosted by the project team of the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR)-funded project “Seafood on the Spot (SOS): Pilot Production and Process Design Improvement of an Innovative Emergency Seafood Product” via Zoom Meetings. This was a sequel to their research project that concluded last February 14, 2024. The project was headed by Prof. Encarnacion Emilia S. Yap as project leader; Mr. Lhumen A. Tejano as study leader; and Mr. Raymund B. Parcon and Ms. Karie Mae D. Tolones as University Research Associates. 

This event was joined by the UPV Accounting Office represented by Ms. Diadem T. Encia and Ms. Jo Anne S. Coronel; representatives from DA-BAR; and collaborative partners from the municipalities of Ajuy, Iloilo, and Masantol, Pampanga. 

During the meeting, project leader Prof. Encarnacion Emilia S. Yap provided an introduction of the project while Mr. Lhumen A. Tejano, study leader, presented the program activities, key milestones and expected deliverables. Ms. Lorebelle Pidoy from DA-BAR gave emphasis to the guidelines, requirements as well as provided some reminders adhering to project documentation standards. Questions were raised regarding the future activities and strategies of the project and the team addressed these accordingly. 

The second inception meeting was last April 29, 2024, with Western Visayas Health Research and Development Consortium (WVHRDC) as lead agency in pre-implementation meeting of the project, “AMR Mapping: Spatial distribution and distribution and resistance profiles of WHO priority pathogens isolated among patients in two tertiary public hospitals in Iloilo City” with Dr. Adrienne Marrie Bugayong-Janagap as the project leader. 

Present during the said meeting were Dr. Adrienne Marrie S. Bugayong-Janagap project leader, Ms. Elle Señalista from WVCHRD, Ms. Jo Anne S. Coronel from UPV Accounting Office and Mr. Hilario G. Gavan III from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension. Project implementation procedures were presented by the funding agency as well as allowed the project proponent and the UPV offices to raise their questions and concerns regarding this.
