UPV projects funded by DOST PCIEERD undergoes equipment inventory and financial monitoring
The Department of Science and Technology Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST PCIEERD) conducted an equipment inventory and financial monitoring on the projects being implemented in UP Visayas last April 24, 2024.
The DOST PCIEERD finance and inventory team was composed by Mr. Ivan E. Dichoso, Mr. Isidro S. Justiniano III, Mr. Arvin E. Guiruela and Ms. Tzarine P. Benzonan. Prior to the inventory and monitoring, they paid a courtesy visit to Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension, Prof. Encarnacion Emilia S. Yap.
These were the projects that underwent equipment inventory and financial monitoring:
- Design and Development of MagneticAlly-Coupled Linear Generator ON-shore (MAALON) Wave Energy with Engr. Perry Neil Fernandez as Project Leader;
- Development of a Water Quality Biological Monitoring Protocol using genetic, Phylogenetic and Functional Diversity on Freshwater Zooplankton Communities in Inland Waters of Panay Island, Philippines, Dr. Eric Zeus Rizo as Project Leader;
- Farm to Fashion: Characterization of the Philippine Yarn Products and Supply and Value and Sustainability Plans” under FASTRAC Program, Jose Marie Eslopor as Project Leader;
- Development of Protein Hydrolysates from Catfish Consumption Wastes as Food Ingredient, Mercy B. Quilantang as the Project Leader;
- Cresunscreen: Formulation of the Calabash (Crescentia cujete) Methanolic Extract with Mr. Raphael Belleza as project leader; and
- Port and Ballast Water Baselines Using Ecological, Microbiological and eDna Approaches (PORTEC), Dr. Laureen M. Manalo as project leader.
Together with the UPV Supply and Property Services Office (UPV SPSO) and UPV Accounting Office, they inspected the equipments procured by these projects and also reviewed their respective financial reports.
The UPV Accounting Office was represented by Ms. Jo Anne S. Coronel and Ms. Diadem Grace T. Encia; UPV Supply and Property Services Office by Mr. Oliver Morano, Ms. Melissa Joyce Tunay and Ms. Eva A. Dicar; and Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension represented by Mr. Hilario G. Gavan III.
DOST PCIEERD also presented to the project leaders and UPV offices the amendments to the “Revised Guidelines for the Grants-in-Aid (GIA) Program of the Department of Science and Technology and its Agencies”. These provided the concerned offices an in-depth explanation on what are these revisions in relation to project implementation.
UP Visayas continues to work harmoniously with DOST PCIEERD to implement projects in the field of science and technology that are beneficial and precursors to sustainable development.
