Representatives from Mindanao State University-Naawan Campus (MSU-Naawan) Agri-Aqua Technology and Business Incubator (ATBI) visited the University of the Philippines Visayas for a benchmarking activity last July 10, 2024. The benchmarking focuses on agri-aqua technologies, business incubators and technology transfers.
Dr. Mary Grace Sedanza, Regional Research Center Director welcomed the delegation and gave an overview of the facilities and services available in the university that are aligned to their field of interest in agri-aqua technologies.
They visited the UPV-Institute of Aquaculture Multi-species Hatchery and Coastline 5023: DOST-UPV Fisheries TBI, UPV Regional Research Center, Philippine Genome Center Visayas (PGC-Visayas), and Institute of Fish Processing Technology Seafood Processing Plant, respectively.
They were toured around the project sites of different aquaculture commodities including mussels, blood cockles and tilapia. They were presented with the objectives of the projects of various technopreneurs and the university’s visions to assist these services; and heard testimonies from one of the beneficiaries–the Juan Algae Paste on marketing and product expansion. The visitors also went through a short tour and discussion about the technology transfer process of the university and the existing technologies at stake.
Both universities were looking forward to more collaborations in agri-aqua research projects that can transpire into viable technologies for various stakeholders.
UPV continues to assist various SUCs in the country by sharing impactful initiatives in technology innovations and business development efforts.
