OVCRE conducts review and evaluation of 49 registered research projects

An annual monitoring and evaluation of research projects implemented by UP Visayas happened last December 2 and 3, 2024. In this year, a total of 49 OVCRE-registered projects, 5 are in-house research and 44 are externally-funded research. 

 

Chancellor Camposano graced the activity and welcomed the attendees. He emphasized the importance of research in the tripartite functions of the university. He mentioned the roles of administrative offices in coordinating and cooperating with the researchers for the smooth transactions of project implementation. 

 

The presentations are about the project status, and outputs and deliverables, which includes the Publication, Patent, Products, People Services, Places and Partnerships, Policies (6Ps). These were evaluated by Acting Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension, Dr. Iris Ann G. Borlongan and Ms. Ferelyn F. Oliva of the Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (TTBDO). Project leaders and staff were reminded about the requirements, especially those that are yet to be accomplished. Project commercialization potentials were also discussed.  

 

The in-house funded projects were evaluated by external evaluators. The panel of external evaluators was composed of Dr. Marshalley Baquiano for Social Sciences, Dr. Gerald Quinitio for Fisheries, and Dr. Joselito de los Reyes for Literature, Dr. Ramil Lumauag for Physical Sciences.  

 

UPV administrative offices that play important roles in project implementation were also invited to join in the evaluation process. The Accounting Office and Supply and Property Services Office (SPSO), represented by. Ms. Diadiem Grace Endencia and Ms. Ella Joy Garboso; and Ms. Jo Ann Bedia and Ms. Rogema Moncerate, respectively. Project teams raised questions and apprehensions and were addressed accordingly by the respective representatives. 

 

Also, representatives from Western Visayas Agriculture, Aquaculture and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (WESVARDEC) were present in this year’s M&E, headed by their consortium director, Dr. Pastor Jones Denusta. 

 

This monitoring and evaluation of in-house-funded and externally-funded research projects is a yearly activity organized by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension (OVCRE) to further enhance project implementation and harmonize university transactions.
