On June 19, 2024, Department of Science and Technology-National Capital Region visited the University of the Philippines Visayas as part of their benchmarking activity in Region VI that aimed to enhance their core functions and services related to research and development, technology transfer and startup development programs.

The DOST-NCR together with DOST-VI representatives were welcomed by Dr. Victor Marco Emmanuel N. Ferriols at the Regional Research Center building where the Philippine Genome Center-Visayas is located. Dr. Ferriols presented the core functions of the facilities and toured them around PGC-Visayas laboratories.

They also went to the Fisheries Technology Business Incubator (FTBI) Building at the Multi-species Hatchery Complex, Institute of Aquaculture, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, Miagao, Iloilo. Ms. Milyn Leghid, project leader of the Coastline 5023 UPV FTBI project presented the project’s beneficiaries and business incubatees.

Through this benchmarking activity, DOST-NCR targets to efficiently implement future collaborative projects and improve their internal management processes. Similarly, UPV continues to engage and collaborate with various stakeholders to uphold its mandates of honor, excellence, and service to the nation.
