Weavers, cotton farmers and artisan enterprises coming from different parts of Region VI come together for the “The Regenerative Philippines Innovation Workshop” held at the UPV Regional Research Center (UPV-RRC) last June 18, 2024. This is an extension workshop on regenerative textile and FGD validation among cotton farmers, artisan enterprises and weavers in Western Visayas.
This activity aims to introduce regenerative textile, popularize the Regional Yarn Production and Innovation Center (RYPIC) and delve deeper in the use of natural textile fiber.
The resource speakers of the said event were Ms. Noreen Marian Bautista, the CEO and co-founder of Panublix Innovations Inc., where she discussed the Regenerative Fashion and Textile Industry; Ms. Trixie Pellobello of CynderTech on the launching of the PWEDE App; and Jonathan Chris Bañas and Adrianne Fritz Parra, of the RRC Farm to Fashion project, who presented the status of the natural textile fiber value chain in Western Visayas.
This is a partnership between the University of the Philippines Visayas – Regional Research Center and Panublix Innovations, Inc., and in collaboration with Department of Science and Technology Region VI, Department of Trade and Industry Region VI.
This collaborative initiative is implemented under the DOST-PCIEERD (Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, Emerging Technology, Research and Development) under the FASTRAC and WHWHISE (Women Helping Women: Innovation Social Enterprises) Programs. This was also made possible through the support of the Rotary Club of Makati-Paseo de Roxas.
The project also conducted the same workshop in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) at Isabela State University Cauayan Campus last May 28, 2024. This coming July 11, The Regenerative Innovation Workshop will be coming to Region XII (SOCCSKSARGEN) and this will be held at DreamWeavers Hotel Koronadal.
