
DOST VI conducts onsite meeting and monitoring of UPV projects



The Department of Science and Technology Region VI visited the University of the Philippines Visayas for an onsite meeting and monitoring of different UPV projects under their supervision last October 14, 2024 at CFOS FC Conference Room, UPV Miagao Campus.
The DOST team was composed of representatives from various departments. They were Ms. Maerell Love Señalista and Ms. Yrma Tiron from WVHRDC, Ms. Ana Mae Roberto from WVCIEERD ad Mr. Ed Lacson from NSTEP Visayas.
The team reviewed the following projects:
- Screening for emerging contaminants in the Iloilo-Batiano River System with Mr. Norwell Brian C. Bautista as the project proponent
- Maternal and Child Health Services Utilization in Selected Municipalities in Iloilo Province before and during the Covid-19 Epidemic, Western Visayas, Philippines: A Retrospective Cohort Study with Prof. Serafin O. Malecosio, Jr. as project proponent
- FightBac: Virtual Screening for Quorum Quenchers from Natural Product Database and their Synergistic Antibacterial Activity with Prof. Ann Selma C. Morata as project proponent
- Operationalization of the Regional Research Journal with Prof. Harold M. Monteclaro as project proponent.
This was attended by UPV representatives from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension and the accounting office. The OVCRE was headed by Ms. Rotsen A. Cayanan AO IV; Mr. Hilario G. Gavan, AO II; and Ms. Erica Jane D. Ca-ang, Senior Office Assistant. The accounting office was represented by UPV’s Chief Accountant, Ms. Eleonor M. Ravena and Ms. Diadem Grace T. Encia.
UP Visayas gives utmost importance and attention to the research projects being conducted in the university. This activity ensures a venue to address concerns and smoothen administrative transactions of the university and partner agencies.
